After missing the Australian Open juniors, Alex Eala continued her quest to earn points in the professional circuit.

The 15-year-old Eala eked out a  6-1, 6-2 win over Italian foe Anna Paradisi in the opener of the W15 Manacor ITF tournament Tuesday evening.

Entered as reserve player, Eala advanced to the second round against 21-year-old Australian Seone Mendez.

Eala and Mendez are both Rafa Nadal Academy scholars.

Last December, Eala  returned home to her family in the Philippines after spending much of her time in Europe.

She slipped to no. 3 in the world junior rankings last November.

Eala has since gone back to the Rafa Nadal Academy to resume training for this year’s professional and junior tennis seasons in and around Spain.

Her Women’s Tennis Association ranking points have gone up to 1180 from 1594.

Eala is now on her fifth pro tournament.

The last time she joined, Eala made it to the first round of the W15 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
