Physical training under a bubble in Calamba, Laguna will be delayed and has been rescheduled for another weekend.

Commissioner Ramon Fernandez of the Philippine Sports Commission said this after the agency called off a 90-day training stint last weekend at the Inspire Sports Academy.

Numerous members of the national squad still need help in securing travel passes from their respective provinces.

“May iba-ibang restrictions kasi sa mga localities na pinanggalingan nila. Hopefully, matuloy na,” said Fernandez.

Athletes from boxing, taekwondo and karatedo are supposed to be the first ones to go into a bubble type of training.

But the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association has asked the  PSC to include the  national women’s baseball team.

PABA president Chito Loyzaga said the nationals need to return to physical training within the month.

That’s because  the coming Women’s Baseball World Cup is around the corner and  is set to commence this March.

The PABA is now confirming if organizers will still push through with their plans.

The World Cup  was originally set for November last year has been tentatively rescheduled for March 1  in Tijuana, Mexico.

Loyzaga said he is in talks with Commissioner Charles Maxey on their proposal to have the national squad join the physical practices.

Back in 2019, the Philippine women clouters beat China, 11-1, in  five innings to claim  a historic bronze medal in the 2019 Baseball Federation of Asia Women’s Cup held at the Panda Stadium in Guangdong, China.

This earned the Philippines a seat  to the 2020 Women’s Baseball World Cup following wins over China, Korea and Hong Kong.

The sports agency has made arrangements for  a bubble-type of setup that will enable national athletes who are preparing for international meets to sharpen their skills after spending almost a year in lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.
