CIGNAL TV is the University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ new broadcast partner, tasked to air its games for the next five and a half years, beginning with Season 83 (2020-2021).
Under such a collaboration, selected events of the UAAP will be aired live on CIGNAL’s One Sports channel and its other digital assets.
In a statement, UAAP officials said this will ensure “an engaging and expansive coverage across different multimedia platforms.”
Its affiliate network, TV5, with their combined experience in sports production, is expected provide the UAAP with a strong foundation in its efforts to promote collegiate sports in the country.
“Despite the current challenges, the league is looking forward to the partnership as a new chapter that can take the UAAP to even greater heights,” said the UAAP board of trustees in a statement.
Last September, ABS-CBN wrote the 83-year-old league to seek for the discontinuation of their broadcast agreement following the station’s failure to renew its franchise to operate from Congress.
