Ex-Maroon, 4 others arrested in drug sting

Lawmen arrested a former University Athletic Association of the Philippines basketball player and four others in a buy-bust operation in Parañaque City early Tuesday morning.

Arrested were Kevin Rae Astorga, 34, former UAAP basketball player of UP Fighting Maroons and a resident of 40 Avelino Circulo 12, Parañaque City; Augustine Deulexandre Montejo, 39, of 37 Indonesia Street, Barangay Don Bosco, Bicutan, Parañaque City; Jericho Martin Tomagan, 33, of BF L16 St. John Street, Las Piñas City; Karen Salvahan, 30, of 1113 Vallejo Street, Sta Rosa, Laguna, and Miguel Carlos Mojares, 30, of 12 Arambolo Street, BF Homes, Parañaque City.

Seized from the suspects were 150 grams of kush, a high grade marijuana with a street value of P168,000.00, small transparent self-sealing plastic sachets with traces of suspected cocaine, various drug paraphernalia and two mobile phones.

A composite team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region, Southern Police District-District

Intelligence Division, and Paranaque City Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation around 12 midnight at a suspected drug den in JEMP Building, Barangay BF Homes.

The suspects are now in the custody of PDEA and will be charged with violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13,14 and possible 15 Art. II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
