International Master Chito Garma will spearhead a strong cast clashing in the Baby Uno Chess Challenge dubbed as Ivan Cup 16 players Invitational online tournament at chess portal Lichess which starts today Friday, August 21.
The former University of Manila standout looms as the player to beat in the nine-round Swiss system tournament, seven-minutes play to finish time control format owing to his big wins in the Baby Uno Chess Challenge dubbed as Retired PNP Captain Jun Isaac last week.
Garma won the title in the Retired PNP Captain Jun Isaac online tournament with a higher tie break points against fellow 12 pointers second placer Fide Master Alekhine “Bbking” Nouri and third placer Sherwin Tiu.
Garma won the Ninth Asian Seniors Chess Championships was held at the Tagaytay International Convention Center, Tagaytay City in November 2018.
Other invited players in the one day blitz event Ivan Cup 16 players Invitational online tournament organized by Bayanihan Chess Club, hosted by Teddy Cu are International Master Angelo Young, Woman International Master Bernadette Galas, Fide Master Jony Habla, Woman Fide Master Cherry Ann Mejia, Woman Fide Master Samantha Glo Revita, National Master Giovanni Mejia and National Master Robert Arellano.
Also participating are National Master Julius Sinangote, National Master Alfred Acaling III, National Master Marlon Bernardino, Woman National Master Francois Marie Magpily, Arena Grandmaster Voltaire Marc Paragua, Malaysian chess champion Glenn Hullana Garcia, veteran campaigner Genghis Imperial and PH chess wizard Ivan Travis Cu, the 2019 Singapore National Age Group 1st runner-up.
