Red Spikers notch 2nd win

The San Beda Red Spikers banked on the big effort of Jeffrey Losa in pulling off a four-set triumph over Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20, Friday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Losa tallied a game-high 23 points for the Red Spikers in posting their second win in three games in the men's division of the 95th National Collegiate Athletic Association men's volleyball tournament.

Twenty of Losa's points came from attacks, scoring on two blocks and an ace.

San Beda University coach Ariel Dela Cruz said they are now back on track with their goals with this win.

“Malaking adjustment pagkatapos namin matalo sa San Sebastian. Nag-adjust kami from receive to spiker-receive,” said Dela Cruz.

Letran managed to stay close with their 12 blocks, with Brylle Novo leading with with 12 points.

In women's action, Cesca Racraquin delivered 22 points as San Beda prevailed over Letran 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

Nieza Viray and Kim Manzano had 12 and nine points, respectively, for the Lady Red Spikers, who claimed their third straight win.

The Lady Red Spikers are now tied with defending three-time champion Arellano University in second place.

The College of Saint Benilde is ahead after a fourth consecutive triumph — a 25-20, 25-21, 25-17 crushing of Emilio Aguinaldo College the other day.

Klarissa Abriam had 16 points for the Lady Blazers.
