Perpetual Help’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams quashed their Jose Rizal University counterparts to remain unblemished after two games in the NCAA Season 100 on Thursday at the St. Placid Gym in San Beda University, Mendiola, Manila.
Shaila Omipon had 21 points and Winnie Bedan̈a backed her up with 20 as the Lady Altas scored a 4-set, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22 victory over the Lady Bombers.
Rookie Jemalyn Menor contributed 11 points in her first game for the Lady Altas after not being able to play in the match against San Beda due to fever.
Liberos Marian Andal recorded 10 digs and 21 receptions and Jodi Lozano had 15 digs, while setter Fianne Ariola recorded 18 sets for a total of 140 attempts.
Coach Sandy Rieta’s second stringers also contributed – middle blocker Bea Uy with 9 points, left-handed Pauline Reyes (5 points), Mika Donig (2) and setter Ariola (1).
Gayle Batara and Patricia Del Pilar led the way for the Lady Bombers with 10 points each.
In the men’s division, Kobe Brian Tagupa powered defending champion Perpetual Help with a game-high 15 points in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 victory over the Heavy Bombers.
Coach Macky Carin̈o got support from Jeff Marapoc, who had 13 points, 6 digs and 10 receptions.
