F2 Logistics dominates Cocolife in PSL

A WELL-RESTED F2 Logistics squad flexed its muscles as it dominated Cocolife, 25-13, 25-16, 25-8, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Aby Marano was impressive on both ends as she towed the Cargo Movers to their third straight victory in this prestigious women’s club tourney bankrolled by Isuzu, Sogo, Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller, UCPB Gen and Bizooku with Genius Sports as technical partner.

Marano, the skipper of the national squad that saw action in the Asian Games for the first time in 36 years, tallied 10 attacks, three blocks and three aces for game-high 16 points for the Cargo Movers, who are out to gain momentum before their gigantic battle against Petron on Saturday at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan City.

F2’s Kim Dy is foiled by the Cocolife’s Kalei Mau and Arianna Angustia in the PH Superliga, with the Cargo Movers pulling off a 25-13, 25-16, 25-8 win.

The Cargo Movers were the queens of this season-ending conference until the Blaze Spikers knocked the crown off their heads via a dramatic finals victory last year.

Petron also clobbered F2 Logistics in a thrilling finals showdown in the Grand Prix early this year with American import Katherine Bell joining Lindsay Stalzer as a last-minute substitute to injured Hillary Hurley.

F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus knows that their battle with their rival will never be easy so a morale-boosting win is what they need right now.

“We had a good rest prior to this game,” said de Jesus after notching their third straight victory in the early stretch of this tourney that also has ESPN5, Aksyon TV and Hyper HD as broadcast partners.

“That rest and recovery had very good effect to them because they had good connection on the court.”

Marano’s fellow national team members Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron also shone as they chipped in 12 and 10 markers respectively for the Cargo Movers, who found a way to stop hard-hitting Filipino-American spiker Kalei Mau.

“They had good exposure with the national team,” said de Jesus. “That’s why I challenged them. I told them that they can’t afford to have a low performance because your coming off a good finish in the international arena.”

Mau, who campaigned for the Arizona Wildcats in the Division I of the US NCAA, was limited to only five points, which is her lowest output since joining this tourney.

Despite coming off a major injury, she still managed to post 13 points in their setback to Petron and 20 points in their loss to Cignal in their first two matches.
