University of the Philippines romped away with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-9 victory over San Beda while Adamson completed its elims sweep with a 19-25, 25-10, 25-21, 25-13 win over San Sebastian in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Isa Molde unleashed a 19-hit game, including 17 kills, Marian Buitre finished with 10 markers and 11 digs, Maristela Layug blasted in eight points and Roselyn Rosier added seven markers for the Lady Maroons who took the No. 4 slot with their fourth win in seven tries.

The Lady Red Spikers wound up a 2-5 card behind the St. Benilde Lady Blazers (3-4)

UP thus set up a best-of-three semifinal duel with unbeaten top seed AdU on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the same venue.

Earlier, Bernadette Flora hammered in 17 points anchored on 11 hits, three blocks and three aces she topped with 12 excellent receptions while Eli Soyud chalked up her own double-double effort of 15 markers and 13 digs to help lift the Lady Falcons past the strong-starting Lady Stags.

No. 2 University of Santo Tomas will try to score a repeat of their victory last Saturday over third-ranked Far Eastern U when they meet anew in their own side of the Last Four clash at 4 p.m.

ABOUT US

Manila Standard

Manila Standard website (manilastandard.net), launched in August 2002, extends the newspaper’s reach beyond its traditional readers and makes its brand of Philippine news and opinion available to a much wider and geographically diverse readership here and overseas.

Digital Edition

In tone and content, the online edition mirrors the editorial thrust of the newspaper. While hewing to the traditional precepts of fairness and objectivity, MS believes the news of the day need not be staid, overly long or dry. Stories are succinct, readable and written in a lively style that has become a hallmark of the newspaper.
