UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas and Adamson University clash for the remaining Final Four slot today in the UAAP Season 80 men’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Bracing for a big Falcons comeback, coach Odjie Mamon remains upbeat up the Growling Tigers’ chances to achieve a second consecutive Final Four stint in the crucial match at 2 p.m.

“We are very positive,” said Mamon.

Behind Jayvee Sumagaysay’s 20-hit outing, UST forced a playoff for the No. 4 slot with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17 victory over Adamson University last Sunday, tying its victims at 6-8.

The winner of the no-tomorrow match will take on top-ranked National University in the semifinals on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Tigers lost twice against the Bulldogs this season, while the Falcons split their head-to-head with the Bustillos-based spikers in the eliminations.

Adamson University, for its part, is eyeing a return trip to the semis after missing the bus last season.

The other Final Four pits No. 2 Far Eastern University and defending champion Ateneo on Saturday also at the Mall of Asia Arena.

By finishing in the top two, the Bulldogs and the Tamaraws need only to win once against their lower-ranked foes to arrange a best-of-three title showdown.
