Jackie Buntan is finally getting used to three-round fights as a professional fighter.

Buntan now on course for world title

Buntan had to take it slow this time when the 23-year-old defeated off Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva via majority decision in one of the undercards of “ONE on TNT IV” on Thursday in Singapore.

Buntan was able to pick up the pace in the third round. That was when she was able to press on and hurt her foe with a kick and three-punch combinations during their flyweight encounter.

“Yes, I feel like in all my fights, I started a bit slow, and I wanted to see what I was working with,” said Buntan after the fight.

During her amateur days, Buntan usually fights for two rounds. It was only in her last two bouts in ONE that she is finally getting used to fighting three-rounders.

It was in the final round that Buntan was able to unleash a mean combination, a jab-left hook-straight right salvo to hurt her rival.

“I was definitely slow this time around, trying to find my range.  And she did a great job in keeping me up there,” added Buntan, who is on her third professional fight since her amateur days in muay thai as a strawweight.

Buntan’s fight record has gone up to  22-5, including her last two professional stints with ONE.

She made her debut with a unanimous decision verdict last February over Wondergirl Fairtex.

With her winning streak, Buntan is now on course for  a shot at the vacant ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title.

Before she made to ONE, Buntan was a multi-titled junior muay thai fighter, who has earned successes in the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations Featherweight Championship and the California State Muay Thai Championship in the senior ranks.
