Sean “Clubber” Clancy loves Muay Thai so much that he flew from Ireland to Thailand to practice “the arts of eight of limbs” in the country where it originated.

Now he gets to prove he made the right decision under the bright lights of ONE Championship.

Clancy takes on Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym in the main event of ONE: A NEW BREED II, which was previously recorded in Bangkok, Thailand, but will air this Friday, 11 September.

“What better place to represent your country than on the big stage of ONE Championship?” Clancy told ONEFC.com.

“It’s not just the minutes going through your preparation. It’s the blood, sweat, and tears, and it’s the years, weeks, and months going into this moment.

“To test your skills on the big stage and represent your country, you can’t put it into words, honestly. It’s everything for a fighter in this position.”

Throughout his career, “Clubber” earned a couple of Muay Thai titles in Ireland and later the WBC Muay Thai World Championship.

Now he will take his skills to the global stage of martial arts and try to defeat one of Thailand’s best strikers in Pongsiri.

“Winning means everything because it’s testing who you are, and testing your skills, your preparation, your training, everything,” he continued.

“To win on the main stage, you can’t put it into words. To win against a fighter like Pongsiri, who is well-recognized and is well-known throughout the fight scene here, would mean everything. It shows I am ready to go with the big boys here.”

When the opening bell rings, expect the 31-year-old to come out swinging and push forward with only one intention – getting the knockout win.

“My fighting style is to move forward. Like everything in life, you just got to keep moving forward. I wouldn’t say I’m a backward person. There’s one direction in my mind – that’s moving forward,” Clancy said.

“Whether it’s punching, kicking, or throwing those elbows, every moment you just need to make sure you’re answering. Weapons, for me, are whatever in the moment that comes to my mind to hit him with.”

Watch the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED II this Friday, 11 September, on One Sports or One Sports+ at 8:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time (PHT). Also, TV5 will air the event on a next-day delay at 11 p.m. PHT on Saturday, 12 September.
