ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera had a lot of good words for his next challenger “Singh” Arjan Bhullar. He praises the wrestler’s striking, which many people have overlooked when talking about the Indian’s game.

Bhullar had a successful debut last October at ONE: CENTURY PART II where he scored a convincing decision win over former number one contender Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli.

It was in that match when the former Olympian showcased his boxing; his movement frustrated the Italian power-hitter on the feet, and he controlled the match wherever it went.

“This guy has amazing boxing that nobody’s talking about,” Vera said. “This guy’s boxing is ridiculous. His head movement is crisp. He’s fast, and he likes to stay in the pocket.”

“The Truth” also noted Bhullar’s endless cardio displayed in that bout. The American Kickboxing Academy product looked fresh even after a three-round grind against Cerilli.

“Arjan has more gas than most heavyweights, and that’s something really different about him,” Vera continued.

“He knows how to pace himself. Most heavyweights don’t know how to pace themselves. I’m going to have to push and test and poke in different places that he is not used to.”

Bhullar has been actively campaigning for a World Title shot against Vera as early as last year, but he knows that facing the Filipino in the division he has ruled for four years would be tough.

“I have a lot of respect for Brandon Vera as a fighter and as the champion,” Bhullar said.

“He’s been the champion over at ONE in the heavyweight division forever, and he’s done a great job for himself, for his family, for the fans, for the Philippines, and for the Filipino people. That’s everything I want to do in my career.”

Nonetheless, Bhullar is willing to go to great lengths to reach his goals.

“Brandon is tough, and it’s not going to be an easy fight. I’m going to have to walk through fire, but I feel like I have what it takes to beat him and become the champion.”
