Eustaquio welcomes Tauru’s ground game

If there is one thing former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio is known for, it is for his ability to redeem prior losses.

He has become known as the “Rematch King” of ONE Championship after beating Anatpong BunradKairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov, and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes in rematches.

Now he gets a chance to add another name to his list when he rematches Toni “Dynamite” Tauru at ONE: MASTERS OF FATE this Friday, 8 November at the Mall Of Asia Arena.

This serves as the rematch to their clash at ONE: AGE OF DOMINATION in Manila in December 2016 when the Finn stunned “Gravity” with a first round rear-naked choke.

“I was not myself that time. I learned my lessons and I will do my best not to repeat the same mistakes,” Eustaquio said.

“I think staying focused and making sure that I am ready for everything when we’re in the Circle will make it a different story [this time around].”

“I am looking forward to our rematch – I want to live on that brand as the ‘Rematch King.’”

The 30-year-old Filipino believes he has improved a lot on the ground since his last meeting with Tauru, going on record saying he has spent “thousands of minutes” developing his ground skills.

Though he acknowledges the ground is Tauru’s turf, he claims he will be much more comfortable rolling with “Dynamite” this time around. “I had my developments, and I improved in all aspects of my mixed martial arts game,” Eustaquio said.

“I still need to watch out for his grappling, but I’m not afraid to mix it up on the ground.”

Eustaquio is confident he has improved so much that he does not rule out a submission win on Friday.

“What matters most whenever I compete is to perform to the best of my ability and give the fans an entertaining fight. They will see my improvement and growth, and I will do my best to show how I can bring my game to the next level,” he said.

“I am looking for a stoppage, and I’m hoping that I can end it by submitting him.”

ONE Championship returns to Manila for one last time this year with ONE: MASTERS OF FATE this Friday, 8 November at the Mall Of Asia Arena.

The preliminary card begins on FacebookTwitterYouTube, and the ONE Super App at 5:30pm Philippine Standard Time (PHT).
