Globe and ONE Championship will continue to work together in developing martial arts in the Philippines as the two companies enter another year of partnership.

Globe, along with ONE Championship, has been very instrumental in supporting local athletes out to make their dreams a reality in the circle. Fans and supporters were also given the chance to be a part of their journey via the ONE Super App.

“We are very pleased how ONE Championship has developed the Martials Arts scene in the Philippines. During its early years, ONE Championship was just regarded as an upstart, a pretender to the bigger, more popular promotions. Now ONE is Asia’s largest global sports media property. We are so happy that we were able to give our local athletes a chance to be in the forefront as ONE continues to grow the Martial Arts landscape globally,” Jil Bausa-Go, Globe Vice-President for Content Portfolio and Partner Management, Content Business Group said during the ONE: DAWN OF HEROES press conference held at the City of Dreams.

Bausa-Go believes the continued partnership will bring more fans to the sport as more and more Filipino athletes are given the chance to be part of stacked cards not only in the Philippines but in other major cities all over Asia.

“With the ONE Super App, fans are just a click away from accessing the latest news, updates, highlights and other information they need to know about Brandon Vera, Eduard Folayang and the rest of our brave and promising athletes,” Bausa-Go adds.

Globe also announced it is tapping several Team Lakay members to become its Ambassadors. Team Lakay earlier has chosen Globe as its official telco partner in its journey to gain more honor for the country in various ONE Championship events.

Team Lakay, founded by mixed martial arts artist Mark Sangiao, has produced several top contenders and former ONE champions including Folayang, Honorio Banario, Danny Kingad, Geje Eustaquio, Kevin Belingon and current ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio to mention a few. Team Lakay, based in Baguio City, is considered among the top MMA teams in the world.

Aside from another year of ONE SUPER APP partnership, Globe and ONE will embark on two more major projects in the coming months.

Collaborations between ONE and Globe Studios are underway to bring the ONE Hero Series PH, a mixed martial arts reality show that aims to bring out the next Pinoy martial arts superstar by next year.

“There are so many young, talented and hungry athletes all over the country just raring to be given that one shot, that one opportunity to show that indomitable Pinoy fighting spirit against all odds. And what would be a better way to do this search for the next Pinoy martial arts icon than partnering with ONE,” Bausa-Go says.

ONE Championship, for its part, believes the reality show will give fans a “never been seen” access to how martial artists struggle and make their long journey to attain success.

“For every Brandon Vera or Eduard Folayang there are hundreds out there that continue to struggle just to survive a day. Before the glory at the ring, mixed martial arts athletes sweat and bleed it out for years. Hopefully ONE Hero Series PH will show what goes on before and after the bell rings,” Hua Fung Teh, ONE Group President, adds.

Globe is also set to play a major role in hosting a blockbuster ONE event in 2020.
