Supergiant Games’ Game of the Year-winning action roguelike ‘Hades’ was released on consoles on Friday.

Hades garnered multiple awards throughout its lifespan, taking multiple game of the year awards, action game of the year awards and best game design awards, among others.

Taking place in Greek mythology, the game is set in the underworld where you play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, who tries to battle out of the pits of Tartarus to seek freedom with the aid of Olympian staples such as Zeus, Poseidon, Artemis, Hera, and many more.

Throughout Zagreus’ adventure, you will get to meet fallen heroes and other Greek Mythology characters that will interact and help Zagreus escape. The game’s focus is battling the “wretches” of Hades and advancing upward toward Greece as Zagreus can pick various mythological weapons that he can imbue with the Olympian’s powers. As you fail each escape attempt, you get to upgrade your character with currency you get throughout a run, making Zagreus stronger after each failed attempt.

The game came out on September 20 last year but was ported to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, with the physical release coming with a soundtrack plus 2 hours of in-game music and a 32-page character compendium.
