Expect Alex Eala to play with inspiration in the $25,000 W25 Trophee De La Ville De Grenoble in Grenoble, France, where she is matched up against Laura Ioana Paar of Romania in the first round.

The 15-year-old Eala was recently named as one of eight girls and seven boys who got junior player grants from the International Tennis Federation of up to $25,000 in 2021.

Alex Eala wants to become no. 1.

One of her immediate goals will be to improve on her rankings in the professional circuit.

“Right now, I like to think of my smaller goals, improving my women’s ranking, and just continuing to improve on the things that I need to improve right now. There’s a lot of room for improvement, I think,” said Eala on itftennis.com.

So far, Eala’s ranking of no. 942 remained unchanged since winning her first women’s professional crown the first leg of the  W15 event of the Rafael Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour in Manacor, Spain last month.

“The main goal is to become a full-time professional, to win Grand Slams and to become the world’s no. 1,” said Eala.

Among the recipients of the ITF junior grant is world no. 2 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra, along with Weronika Baszak of Poland, Kristina Dmitruk (Belarus), Alexandra Eala , Julia Garcia of Mexico,  Yasmine Kabbaj (Morroco), Mell Elizabeth Reasco Gonzalez (Ecuador) and Vivian Yang  of New Zealand).

French netter Elsa Jacquemot, who won the Roland Garros juniors, is also seeing action in Grenoble, along with Oceane Dodin.

Last week, Eala made it to third and final leg of the International Tennis Federation’s W15 Manacor, in Mallorca, Spain, before bowing to Oksana Selekhmeteva of Russia,  2-6, 3-6.
