Magpily, a 10-year-old child prodigy from Makati City is fresh from winning the 2nd Annual Lee-Ann Fidaire Kiddies 13 years old and below Free Registration Online Chess Tournament (Holiday Season) last Sunday, December 20, sponsored by former Olympian Woman National Master (WNM) Cristina Santos Fidaire.
Other notable participants in the Grandmaster (GM) and Attorney (Atty) Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. and Mayor Maria Carla Lopez Pichay Chess Cup are Rich Benedict Reyes, Christian Gian Karlo Arca , Wenlan Temple, Jhay Mar Cruz , James Cayatas, John David Makalintal, Jerick Concepcion Faeldonia, OJ Cantela and Vhea Ashley Silvano who made it to the top 10 winners in the 2nd Annual Lee-Ann Fidaire Kiddies 13 years old and below Free Registration Online Chess Tournament.
The total cash prize for the December 26 event held to honor the late GM Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. and as part of the birthday celebration of Mayor Maria Carla Lopez Pichay is P25,000.
Hosted by US-based frontliner Dr. Joe Balinas and Engr. Antonio “Uncle Paps” Balinas, both founding Honorary Chairman of the organizing Bayanihan Chess Club, the tourney offers a whopping top purse of P5,000 to the champion, P2,500 to the runner-up, P1,500 to the third placer and P1,000 each to the fourth and fifth placers, respectively.
