Four new sports bodies will be part of the Philippine Olympic family.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino said this at the end of Saturday’s virtual meeting of the POC General Assembly.

The new organizations that have been accepted include the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation, the Philippine Underwater Hockey Confederation, the Philippine E-sports organization and Philippine National Federation of Polo players.

Tolentino said they will now be considered as associate members.

He added that the POC is now accepting the Philippine Pole and Aerial Sports Association as a recognized member.

The acceptance of the four sports organizations was finalized after the membership status of karatedo and dancesports were formally updated to regular.

This was done after a recent change in leadership in karatedo and the introduction of break dancing in the Tokyo Olympics.

Karatedo is represented by Karate Pilipinas, through its president Richard Lim.

Dancesport is under the group of the Dancesport Council of the Philippines, which is led by Becky Garcia.

The PKF lost recognition from the POC after cases of malversation were filed against its leaders back in 2018.

A new body eventually took over in handling the situation concerning the national team, and its affair.

Break dancing will be one of the new events which will be played in the Tokyo Olympics.
