Being in home quarantine did not become a hindrance for 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal and fellow Cebuano Motic Panugalinog.

The world no. 14 Didal proved this when she claimed the women's division honors of the Asian Skateboarding Championships 2020 Lockdown 5 Video Competition, outscoring 13 other skaters from around the world in ruling the online contest.

With a score of 8.00, Didal topped Japanese rival Yurin Fujji, who tallied 7.5. Twenty-two-year old Orapan Tongkong of Thailand settled for the bronze with 7.46 points.

Panugalinog, who is from Inayawan, claimed the gold in the men's division, with a overall score of 8.92. He beat his foes from Indonesia and Oman.

To provide a good showing, Panugalinog converted part of his home into a mini-skate park, coming up with makeshift obstacles out of a motorcycle and other household objects to jump out of.

Video clips of his tricks were submitted to judges in the virtual event, organised by urban sports events company Millennial Events.

Judges looked into the videos from remote sites in Singapore and Shanghai,

As for Didal, she did her tricks from inside her home in Cebu City, which went into Enhanced Community Quarantine this week.

She did the routines on top of a kitchen sink, while cruising on a long table as she took a break from her online food delivery business Hungry SK8RS.

Before joining the competition, she was busy selling homemade dishes like humba with egg, kwek-kwek, and dynamite.

She was helping her parent's busines by taking care of the deliveries and distribution to customers in Cebu.
