Altas netters make finals

The Perpetual Help senior’s team finally made it to finals for the first time in seven years in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 95 lawn tennis championship at the Philippine Columbian Tennis Court in Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila.

The Altas netters of Coach Samuel Nuguit clobbered the Letran Knights in a winner-take-all match on Tuesday to earn the right to face the CSB Blazers’ team on Thursday.

Jeremiah Macias III thumped CJ Mestiola of Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the singles, 6-0, 6-4, while the tandem of Kenneth Dumapit and Jayson Saavedra of Team Perpetual Altas demolished Francis Sebumpan and Cholo Quintia in the doubles, 6-3, 6-2.

College of St. Benilde ousted defending champion San Beda University last Friday in other semis matches.

The Altas last won the crown during NCAA Season 88, bannered by Russell Arcilla Jr., Kim Sazara, Kim Polero, and Ric Solon.
