Play, mediate, and visualize: PRA promotes mindful retirement for SRRV members

The Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) hosted a mindful retirement retreat for 75 Special Resident Retiree Visa (SRRV) holders recently in Tagaytay City.

This initiative, under the PRA’s We Care program, aimed to foster emotional well-being, self-discovery, and inner peace among retirees.

The retreat provided a serene environment for participants to engage in mindfulness practices, including meditation and breathwork.

Through guided sessions, retirees learned to cultivate self-awareness, manage stress, and find inner peace.

Self-reflection and physical exercises, journaling, and vision boarding encouraged participants to explore their passions and set goals for their retirement years.

“We believe in providing a holistic approach to retirement, and that a fulfilling retirement involves not only physical well-being but also emotional and spiritual health,” said PRA CEO/General Manager Roberto Z. Zozobrado.

The PRA also plans to create full sporting programs for retirees to enjoy and play.

“By providing opportunities for mindfulness and self-reflection, we empower our retirees to embrace this new chapter of their lives with purpose, resilience, and inner peace.”

The retreat also emphasized the importance of social connection and community building. By engaging in group activities and sharing experiences, participants were able to form meaningful relationships and combat feelings of isolation.

By addressing the diverse needs of retirees, the Authority aims to create a vibrant and fulfilling retirement community in the Philippines.

Resident Retiree Servicing Department (RRSD) Manager Marilou Cantancio announced that the Healing and Mindfulness session was handled by teacher Rona Joy Bulaong whose expertise in various forms of energy healing and meditation was gained from years of studies in various parts of the world.

Mindful coach Bulaong claims it is very important for retirees to learn about techniques to promote relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being.

In mindfulness meditation, retirees were guided in cultivating awareness and acceptance by focusing on the present moment without judgement and paying attention to their breath, bodily sensations, and thoughts.

To induce deep relaxation and promote healing, retirees were engaged in sound therapy and breathing exercises.
