Arellano U starts bid for 4th straight volley crown

Arellano University begins its campaign for a fourth straight title this Friday in the opening of the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball season at the Fil Oil Flying V Centre, San Juan City.

Fans can watch the opening ceremony and matches live via ABS-CBN’s streaming service iWant starting at 11 a.m.

First to test the Lady Chiefs, bannered by Season 94 MVP Necole Ebuen and Season 94 Finals MVP Regine Anne Arocha, are the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Lady Pirates led by Monica Sevilla and Mary Joy Onofre at 12 noon.

Following them is the showdown between two former NCAA volleyball champions, Season 94 runner-up University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Lady Altas of Jhona Rosal and Shyra Umandal, and the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers of Jewel Lai and Dianne Ventura at 2 pm.

Completing the field this season are Colegio De San Juan De Letran Lady Knights of Marie Charlemagne Simborio, Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals led by Cathrine Almazan, Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers of Dolly Verzosa, Mapua University Lady Cardinals bannered by Lorraine Barias, San Beda University Lady Red Spikers powered by Nieza Viray, and San Sebastian College – Recoletos Lady Stags of Jewelle Bermillo.

On a mission to showcase the inspiring journey of Filipino athletes and help promote the sport of volleyball to the youth, ABS-CBN Sports will carry the entire NCAA 95 women’s volleyball tournament on iWant. Fans in the Philippines can also livestream the matches on the ABS-CBN Sports website (sports.abs-cbn.com) while those abroad can catch the action on TFC.tv. ABS-CBN’s sports channel S+A, meanwhile, will broadcast the semifinals and finals of the women’s volleyball tournament live.

The NCAA volleyball tournament kicks-off the 2020 volleyball season in the Philippines, where the sport continues to grow in popularity. The NCAA has produced volleyball players that played for the country including Grethcel Soltones (SSC-R) and Ces Molina (SBU), and former MVP Johnvic de Guzman (CSB) and Jack KalingKing (UPHSD), who were part of the squad that won the men’s volleyball bronze medal in the recent Southeast Asian Games.
