There will be 26 candidates for 18 positions up for grabs when the Philippine Football Federation holds its Extraordinary Congress and Elections on Nov. 25.

The Electoral Committee of the PFF confirmed the list of candidates following the announcement of the candidates for the positions of PFF president, the first vice president, the second vice president, and the third vice president.

A female member will also be chosen, along with four executive committee members, each for the three geographical areas, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

PFF secretary general Coco Torre announced this after the final selection of nominees.

Businessman-sportsman Mariano “Nonong” Araneta is stepping down as president of the PFF, with his position to be disputed by Davao-South Regional FA president Henry Sabate, Stallions FC’s Filbert Alquiros and Bukidnon’s Johnny Gutierrez.

Among the candidates for first, second and third vice presidents are Tacloban board and Philippine Azkals national men’s football manager Dan Palami, who will seek the post with Jay Adriatico, Frael Aquino, Ismael Batiles, Lawrence Fortun, and Rodney Orale.

National women’s team manager Isabella Fernando-de la Cruz, wife of retired Philippine Basketball Association cager Tony de la Cruz, is seeking to become the next women’s representative to the board, along with Sherilyn Sinsuat and Lovely Tababa.

The 68-year-old Araneta is quitting after 13 years as head of the PFF, since he is only allowed two terms under the federation’s charter.

So far, Araneta has already served two terms and after replacing Jose Mari Martinez, who was ousted in 2010.
