The Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) Rise Up Shape Up (PSC-RUSU) will feature on its today’s (April 3) webisode the inspiring story of Kyla Ong Soguilon, a 17-year-old swimming prodigy who was honored as Gintong Gawad 2021 “Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan”.

Soguilon, a native of Kalibo, Aklan was a two-time recipient of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Tony Siddayao Awards in 2014 and 2015.

From 2014-to-2017, Soguilon was also recognized as Philippine Junior Athlete of the Year and Milo Junior Athlete of the Year – a feat that no other junior athlete in the Philippines has achieved to date.

Yesterday (April 2), the online series featured the province of Pangasinan and its various local sports development initiatives that earned them the recognition as “Kaagapay ng Isport sa Komunidad” awardee of the 2021 Gintong Gawad.

One of the province’s notable sports development projects is the establishment of the Pangasinan Sports Academy, which offers training programs for numerous sporting events such as lawn tennis, archery, basketball, taekwondo, among others to build athletes with excellent athletic skills.
