Kunming Tennis: Unity through sports

To unite countries through sports and its cultural heritage are the main objectives of the Colorful Yunnan Belt And Road Initiative Kunming International Tennis Tournament which recently concluded at the Gloria Hotspring Resort Tennis Center in Kunming, China.

The Philippines’ participation in the Colorful Yunnan Belt And Road Initiative Kunming International Tennis Tournament maybe considered significant due to the thriving economic relationship between the Philippines and China—which the hosts likewise extends to neighboring regions.  

With 13 countries including the Philippines participating for the second year, the Kunming Tennis Event implemented the unique Mixed Team Concept for the Seniors and Juniors Divisions.

The celebration for its Cultural Heritage was evident with presentations such as the Folk Dance Love Songs of the Lisu People and the Wushu performance during the opening ceremonies, while the Cultural Night showcased their Folk Orchestra for Colorful Yunan and the much-applauded youngsters’ Flying Dragon with Golden Light hip hop routine.   

The country’s participation maybe considered significant due to the thriving economic relationship between the Philippines and China—which the hosts likewise extends to neighboring regions.  

Exequiel Jucutan, Jufe-ann Cocoy, Jude Hidalgo and Minette Bentillo finished fourth in the juniors class, while university standouts Marcen Gonzales, Gab Tiamzon, Aidyll Ignacio with SEA Games-bound Marian Capadocia, Clarice Patrimonio and Shaira Rivera competed in the mixed team category.

Philippine Tennis Association president Atty. Antonio Cablitas was head of delegation.
