Racasa rules Pattaya Chess Club age group chess

Antonella Berthe Racasa, country’s youngest Woman Fide Master, claimed the girls’ 12-Under title with 6.5 points in nine outings in the recently concluded 2nd Pattaya Chess Club Open 2019 age group chess championship held at the Bay Beach Resort in Pattaya, Thailand.

The 12-year-old Racasa scored victories over Tyrhone James Tabernilla of the Philippines (first round), Ray Pritish Burman of Singapore (second round), Ian Hon of South Korea (third round), Relghie Columna of the Philippines (sixth round), Agarwal Manan of Singapore (seventh round) and Adrian Klein Cantomayor of the Philippines (ninth round).

Racasa, a grade 6 pupil of Home School Global, agreed to a draw with Ruelle of the Philippines (eight round). She lost Sai Han Thiha of Myanmar (fourth round) and Wayne Ruiz of the Philippines (fifth round).

Ruiz from Santa Rosa, Laguna won over-all champion in the Under 12 division followed by 2nd placer Sai Han Thiha and 3rd placer Canino.

Racasa’s local and international chess campaign was supported by PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo, Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos, councilor Charisse Abalos, Rotary Club past president Rogelio Lim of Boni Towers, Rose Montenegro, immediate past president/CEO of Makati Med. and president/CEO of the ALC Group of Companies, D. Edgard A. Cabangon.
