Suan, Gaddi rule Three Knights chess

Unrated Jerome Suan and Johann Cedric Gaddi emerged as champions in the Three Knights Individual & 14-Under Kiddies Chess Tournament held recently at the Robinsons Place Antipolo.

Suan scored 6.5 points to rule the Individual 1900 and below division and take home the champion’s prize of P5,000 and trophy.

Camillo Benabente and Randy John Pablo finished with an identical score of 6 points to settle for second and third places, respectively.

Benabente and Pablo went home with the runners-up prize of P3,000 and P2,000, respectively plus trophy.

The 14-year-old Gaddi, on the other hand, scored a perfect score of 7 points to top the seven-round chessfest supported by the Antipolo City Youth Chess Club, Inc. and Robinsons Malls and sponsored by Shai’s D Light, Green King Nation and AXA.

ASEAN Master and Candidate Master Al-Basher Buto scored 6 points to finish at second place while Jan Lei Kian Rosaupan scored 5 points to settle for third place.

Buto and Rosaupan received P3,000 and P2,000, respectively plus trophy and medal.

Leading the opening and awarding ceremonies were tournament managers McDaniel Ebao and Caine Knight and tournament organizer Ryan Loberiano of Antipolo Chess Club.
