The 5th Plaridel Cup golf tournament of the Association of Philippine Journalists—Samahang Plaridel tees off tomorrow, October 4, Friday at the Aguinaldo Golf Club in Quezon City, with Rep. Robert Ace Barbers (2nd Dist. Surigao del Norte) leading the ceremonial tee-off.
Also invited to the ceremonial tee-off is Rep. Juan Fidel Felipe Nograles (2nd Dist. Rizal). Tee-off time is 7 a.m.
Media golfers and their friends—thus the two divisions: media and guests—will be vying for bragging rights and tournament prizes as well as exciting giveaways and raffle prizes.
The Plaridel Golf Cup is the annual sporting event of Samahang Plaridel, the professional group of veteran journalists, publishers, editors-in-chief and communicators.
This year’s sponsors include San Miguel Corporation, First Orient International Ventures Corporation, Cebu Pacific Air, Sogo Hotel, Ayala Land, Steel Asia, Globe, PAGCOR, Reyes Haircutters, ABS-CBN, Doña Maria, Manila Water, City of Dreams, Senator Cynthia Villar, Asia Brewery and AB Heineken Philippines.
The 18-hole tournament seeks to foster camaraderie among media golfers while raising funds for Samahang Plaridel’s projects.
Golfers from this year’s sponsors are welcome to join the tournament.
The association is led by Chairman Crispulo “Jun” Icban (publisher-Manila Bulletin) and President Rolando G. Estabillo (publisher-Manila Standard).
