Xavier School rules 2019 ISSA Grade School chess meet

The Xavier School Chess Team A reigned supreme in the 2019 Interscholastic Sports Association (ISSA) Grade School Division chess tournament held at the Brent International School Manila in Biñan, Laguna last weekend.

Playing for Xavier School Chess Team A were Board 1 Ivan Travis Cu (5/5-gold), Board 2 Ryan Taguba (4/5 – silver), Board 3 Jericho Winston Cu (4.5/5 – gold) and Board 4 Gregory Pe (3/5 – bronze). The team scored 16.5 points to capture the crown.

The Xavier School Chess Team B (14.0 points) placed second. They include on Board 1 Karl Zachary Fajardo (4/5-silver), Board 2 Martyn Matthew Judd (2/5), Board 3 Alexander Miguel Lim (3/5) and Board 4 Andres Zafra (5/5-gold).

The Xavier School Chess Team A and B is coached by Rolando “Rolly” Yutuc.

Running third was the International School of Manila Team C (13.5 points) followed by International School of Manila Team A (10.0 points).

Other participating teams were British School Manila (8.0 points); International School of Manila Team B (8.0 points); Xavier School Team C (8.0 points); Brent International School Team Z (6.0 points) and Brent International School Team X (6.0 points).

The final standings: 16.5 points, Xavier School Team A; 14.0 points, Xavier School Team B; 13.5 points, International School of Manila Team C; 10.0 points, International School of Manila Team A; 8.0 points, British School Manila, International School of Manila Team B, Xavier School Team C; 6.0 points, Brent International School Team Z, Brent International School Team X.
