For many countries, the Philippines will serve as a role model on how it prepared and hosted the many events of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

One of those nations is Cambodia, which will follow the footsteps of the Philippines when it hosts the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.

Nhan Sokvisal, who is Cambodia’s NOC Director for International Relations, said this after visiting the Philippines during the second chefs de missions meeting last week.

“We are hosting four years from now. And the Philippine SEA Games will be a good experience. We hope to learn from this,” said Sokvisal.

Sokvisal, along with other heads of delegations from 11-member countries, visited the various venues of the Games last Friday.

The delegation heads got to see the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, where the opening ceremonies will be held.

They were also at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac to see the venues for athletics and swimming, together with the athletes’ village.

Organizers expect the number of participants to dwindle to around 9,000 once the entries by name of each delegation is processed.

So far, the provinces of Laguna and Cavite have been added to the list of places where event of the Games will be held.

Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee executive director Tom Carrasco said this will solve the shortage in venues they are now experiencing.

So far, the Centro Mall in Los Banos, Laguna will host floor ball and indoor hockey, while women’s football will now be in Binan.

They have found a venue for net ball in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, while underwater hockey will be held at the Vermosa Sports Complex in Imus, Cavite.

There are now 44 venues which will hold events when the Games are held from November 30 to December 10.

There is a need for venues since the Philippines will be holding 56 events.
