The champion teams are flanked by the Philippine Army and the Adamson Alumni as 1st runners-up, while the Philippine Air Force and the PUP Women’s Team finished as 2nd runners-up.

Ferdinand Liguayan of the Philippine Air Force took home the Most Valuable Player, Best Hitter, and Best Slugger awards for the men’s team at the tournament.

Alexandra Isabel Salas of the Rizal team bagged 4 individual awards, namely the Best Hitter, Pitcher, Slugger and the Most Valuable Player award for the women’s team.

“The yearly Summer Grand Slam is both a testament to the Filipino might in softball and also an avenue to discover the next amazing Filipino softball players, who will bring glory to our country,” said long-time softball patron and Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

He further emphasized that our national teams are both making great strides in the global arena with the PH Blu Girls’ successful stint at the Asia Cup held in Jakarta, Indonesia last May, where they earned fourth place after world powerhouses Japan, China, and Chinese Taipei. Their placement in this tournament also earned them a spot in the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania 2019 Qualifying Event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

On the other hand, the PH Blu Boys will be flying to Prague this June to compete in the Men’s Softball World Championship.

The Summer Grand Slam is a yearly invitational softball tournament organized by ASAPHIL and is supported by Cebuana Lhuillier.
