Tagaytay Highlands flashed consistency in a grueling course-hopping WGAP Cup, coming away with 3.5 points each at Summit Point, Riviera and Ayala Greenfield to crown itself the new champion recently.

The Highlanders topped the High-Low format for Classes A and B at the Summit Point Golf Club in Lipa, Batangas last Oct. 17 and at Riviera’s Langer layout under the Best Ball competition last Oct. 24, edging Camp Aguinaldo by half-a-point in both legs.

They sustained their form in the Greensome for Classes A and C at Ayala Greenfield last Oct. 31 to pool 10.5 points and claim the coveted crown in the highlight event of each WGAP season featuring the top five teams in the WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines) Circuit.

The victory also made up for the Highlanders’ fourth place finish in this year’s WGAP Circuit, which Forest Hills won by the slimmest of margins, 25-24, over Sta. Elena at its home course.

Sharing the spotlight was Forest Hill’s Jhona Ilagan, who scored a hole-in-one on No. 3 of Ayala Greenfield.

Aguinaldo scored 2.5 points in Greensome to finish second with 8.5 points while Forest Hills failed to sustain its WGAP Circuit feat and settled for third with 5.5 points, including two points each in Best Ball and Greensomes and 1.5 points in High-Low.

Sta. Elena posted two points in Greensome up and wound up fourth with three points while last year’s champion Villamor struggled in all three legs and ended up fifth with 2.5 points.
