Patafa to evaluate Beram’s training

Trenten Beram’s training program needs to be evaluated.

Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association president Philip Ella Juico said this after Beram and fellow Fil-American star Eric Shauwn Cray missed the 2018 Korean Open last week.

According to Juico, it turned out that Beram got too exhausted to travel to Korea after joining the Philippine team in the Ayala Philippine Athletics Championship in Isabela.

“His legs were feeling sore and it might create more problems,” said Juico after having a long distance phone conversation with Beram’s father in Connecticut the other day.

The PATAFA is currently investigating the two sprinters after finding out that they did not compete in the Korean Open, which was a very crucial part of their preparation for the coming Asian Games in Indonesia.

Beram’s father informed Juico that his son came all the way from New York after joining the US NCAA athletics’ meet.

Juico also learned that the young Beram trains with their strength and conditioning coach, and a nutrition specilist as well.

For now, the Patafa is in the process of knowing the people that Beram is training with.

The Patafa also gave two-time Olympian Eric Cray 10 days to shed light on his absence in a highly-crucial competition in South Korea early this month.

Juico said he appointed Patafa executive vice president Nicanor Sering to chair the investigating body with secretary-general Renato Unso and director Jeanette Obiena as members.

Juico said a disciplinary sanction will be meted out and barring him to compete in the 18th Asian Games is highly possible.

“We will not tolerate any kind of misconduct,” said Juico.
