TEAM 90s completed a sweep of Team 80s at the start of the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club “Battle of the Generations” basketball and volleyball competitions at the Barangay N. S. Amoranto courts in Malaya St., Quezon City.
Team 90s defeated Teams 80s, 81-59, in basketball behind the efforts of Jay Santiago, Jerry Santos, Choy Santiago and Daniel Blyzma.
In volleyball, Team 90s outsteadied Team 80s, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25, 25-22.
ERJHS Hall of Famer and national team coach Dulce Pante was the special guest during the event supported by Barangay N. S. Amoranto chairman Von Yalong and kagawads Jonjon Tamayo, Chito Amoranto, Jerome Magallanes, Delia Kabigting, Jun Alba, Jeff Sigua and Joey Ligon.
Pante made the ceremonial toss, assisted by ASC president Ed Andaya of Batch 81.
Jay Santiago of Batch 98 finished with a game-high 18 points to lead Team 90s, which outscored Team 80s, 28-14, in the third quarter to win pulling away.
Santos added 16 points, Choy Santiago contributed 13 and Blyzma had 12 for Team 90s of playing coach Michael de Castro.
Ronald Carillo of Batch 85 carried the fight for Team 80s with 13 points, followed by
Arnold Tanare of Batch 86 and Jonjon Cano of Batch 89 with 12 apiece and Alvin Tanare of Batch
89 with 10.
