THE Philippines took a 0-15 loss to Korea in the opening games of the 2017 Baseball Federation of Asia Under-15 Championship in Shizuoka, Japan.

The Koreans, according to Philippine Amateur Baseball Association secretary general Chito Loyzaga in a Viber message, took charge right in the bottom of the first winning with four runs.

But support from a small community of Filipinos still fired the boys up.

“Considering how far ahead Korea is from the Philippines in the development of baseball, our young boys showed great form on the field. A small community of Filipinos mostly parents cheered the team on every run scored by the boys,” wrote Loyzaga.

Gelo Gonzales, who hit a 2 RBI triple on the 5th and 7th Inning, led the fight for the Philippines.

“He was the shining star of the game as he also scored a run for the team on both occasions,” added Loyzaga.

In other games,  Chinese Taipei defeated Pakistan, 15-0, and Japan massacred Hong Kong, 26-0.
