Chua, 70 others make BWC finals

YOUTHFUL national athlete Kenneth Chua rolled a 12-game series of 2771 pinfalls to lead 70 other pintopplers who made it to the 2017 Bowling World Cup recently.

Playing at Superbowl, Chua posted the highest score in the second center finals to emerge as one of the favorites in the fight for the right to represent the Philippines in the International Bowling World Cup slated on November 4-12, this year in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Thirty-nine other male aspirants and 31 female bidders made it to the national finals.  Among them are Sammy Say Sy, who topped last year’s eliminations but failed to make it to the international finals; Paulo Valdez, Benshir Layoso, Kevin Cu, Lara Posadas, Krizziah Tabora, Liza Clutario,Liza del Rosario, Mades Arles, Alexis Sy and Dyan Coronacion.

Also making it to the national finals after the second center event are:

Men—George Manoso, Joebert Buenafe, James Fajardo, Allan Ablang, Simple Villajin, BJ Aganus, Rodel Tungala, June Seculles, Jay R. Tan, Ronald Cruz, Dumo G. Bejara, Lando M. Galbey, Eric Luciano Aranez, Manny Layson, Erwin Cabaneros, Wilson Sua, Jomar Jumapao, Anton Alcazaren, Don Evangelista, Merwin Tan, JP Macatula, Scott Uy, Boy Roman, Arvin Ragas, Nichole Jimeno, Ted Convogar, Lorenz Tugade, Francis de Leon, Rico Luga, Lito Mondragon, Eugene Suarez, Vincent Rhom, Orlando Palco, Joel Guevarra and RJ Magana.

Ladies—Lorna Misa, Ofelia San Jose, Marivic Monzones, Myrna Bautista, Jane Bonifacio, Jinky Imura, Yolly Floralde, Rowena Cabas, Sherry Ann Cruz, Liza Pabico, Melody Bangsi-il, Winifred Kilito, Crystal Chavez, Farah Onasa, Gina Varilla, Abbie Gan, Cindy Edquilane, Silva Yap, Wanda Teer, Mildred Estrellado, Mier Aguinaldo, Ophie Iriberri, Olive Destura and Nancy Frianeza.

Raoul Miranda and Lara Posadas carried the Philippine colors in last year’s BWC international finals in Shanghai, China.

The winners of the national finals, including those who qualified in the first center finals, will make it to the Hermosillo international competition.

The national finals will be played on Sept. 9 (men) and 10 (ladies) at Coronado Lanes (Starlanes), Sept. 11 (men) and 12 (ladies) at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl in Ermita and Sept. 13 (men and ladies) at Paeng’s Eastwood Bowl.
