PUERTO Princesa City—Ivan Kristoffer Aurelio and Samantha Borlain shared the limelight in the swimming competitions in the 2017 Pilipinas International Beach Sports Festival at the Baywalk here.
Aurelio clocked one hour, 10 minutes and 38 seconds to rule the men’s 5k competition presented by the Puerto City government, headed by Mayor Luis Marcaida III.
Jose Diego Ogsimer finished second with a time of 1:19.41, while Fredrich Martin Regalo wound up third with a time of 1:19.50.
Borlain, who comes from a family of triathletes, outduelled Loren Dave Echavez and Jan Mari Abad to clinch first place in the women’s category.
Borlain, the 15-year-old daughter of former Mr. Universe Ringo Borlain, timed 1:10.35 to edge Echavez and Abad.
Echavez timed 1:16.58 and Abad clocked 1:20.00.
Sharing the limelight were Kurt Mikael Bucasas and Tara Borlain ( 2.5-km boys/girls);
Rogel Aboratique and Jaye Dignadice ( 500-m boys/girls, 11-13 years old); and Alexander Austria and Francheska Berlain (500-m boys/girls 10 years old and under).
Mayor Marcaida personally awarded the medals and prizes to the winners in the three-day competition supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, headed by ChairMan Butch Ramirez.
