Mikey Williams’ 16 points led the TNT Tropang Giga’s balanced offense as they pulled off a 96-76 mauling of Blackwater on Wednesday in the resumption of the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
The Tropang Giga’s win came after they managed to firm up their defense in the last period and claim their fourth triumph in as many games.
This marked a great start for Tropang Giga following the return of coach Chot Reyes, who last handled TNT from 2008-2012.
Tropang Giga struggled early after the Bossings bounced back from 10-point deficit in the first period and took charge, 43-37 lead at the half.
But second unit cagers Brian Heruela and Dave Marcelo led the Tropang Giga out of their woes in third period and into a 60-48 spread midway in the quarter.
Simon Enciso topscored for Blackwater with 14 points, but he went scoreless in the last 14 minutes.
