Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season South Division finalists, the Davao Occidental Cocolife Tigers, are making sure the team is prepared to go back to action when the situation normalizes and the monthlong community quarantine in the National Capital Region period is over.

“Our Tigers are ready and determined to retain our southern supremacy and grab a ticket to the national championship, but we must contain first our rival Basilan Steels in a rubber-match Game 3 in our homecourt in Davao City once the MPBL management announces the resumption of the games,” Davao Cocolife deputy team manager Ray Alao said.

The Tigers’ team, owned by Dumper Party List Rep. Claudine Bautista of Davao Occidental and backed by Cocolife President Atty. Jose Martin Loon, FVP Joseph Ronquillo, AVP Rowena Asnan and SVP Franz Joie Araque, tied their finals’ series, 1-1, after beating the Jumbo Plastics, 81-76, in the jam-packed Lamitan City  Gym in Basilan a night before Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared a Metro Manila-wide community quarantine, prompting big local sporting events, including MPBL  management, to follow suit.

So far, the Tigers are undergoing physical conditioning in their backyard to stay fit as they wait instructions from management and coaching staff to resume team practices, in preparation for their biggest crucial game against the Steels.

In the North Division, defending national champion San Juan Knights and Makati Super Crunch, also tied at 1-1, resume their winner-take-all match upon the greenlight of the MPBL.
