The Davao Occidental Cocolife Tigers kept their hold on the top spot in the South Division of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season after subduing Biñan City Luxxe White Krah Heroes, 72-66, in their recent penultimate elimination match at the Alonte Sports Complex in Binan City, Laguna.

The Tiger’s win tightened their hold on the no. 1 spot with a 25-4 win-loss record, edging closest pursuer Bacoor Strikers, who threatened to topple them following a 79-68 drubbing of Iloilo United Royals.

The pacesetting Mindanao team of Dumper Party List Rep. Claudine Bautista of Davao Occidental and backed by Cocolife President Atty. Jose Martin Loon, FVP Joseph Ronquillo, AVP Rowena Asnan and SVP Franz Joie Araque, however, will remain at the top, regardless of the outcome of their final elimination game against Marikina today.

It was an easy sailing for the Tigers against host team Binan as they led by as much as 20 points in the third period en route to victory.

They were powered by June Mocon’s 15 points and Chester Saldua’s 12, moving the Tigers beyond reach by second seed Bacoor at 24-6.
