Most of the La Salle players who were sick last Wednesday are expected to be back and in good shape when the Archers face the Far Eastern University Tamaraws at 4 p.m. today at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
Their presence is expected to be a big boost in the Green Archers’ bid to sustain their momentum in the 82nd University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.
There were eight players were either suffering from the flu or injured when the Green Archers pulled off a 66-59 triumph over the University of the East Warriors last Wednesday.
With Andrei Caracut, Jordan Bartlett, Aljun Melecio, Justine Baltazar, Jamie Malonzo and Joaqui Manuel all back in good health, the Green Archers will have enough manpower to pull off their second consecutive triumph.
“Well, that’s a good team, led by a great coach. They’re playing really well. But again all these games for us, we treat them like playoff games so we’re looking forward to the match-up we’re gonna compete,” said La Salle’s active consultant Jermaine Byrd.
The Green Archers have improve to 5-5 in third place after hurdling the Warriors and they can move to third if they hurdle the Tams.
Reeling from a 55-65 loss the the Blue Eagles, the Tams trail in fifth at 5-6.
Later, the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, who are at solo third with a 6-5 win-loss card, meet National University at 4 p.m.
The Tigers can overtake the Fighting Maroons if they win against the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are at the bottom of the standings at 2-8.
