TNT KaTropa looks to gain a piece of the early tournament lead as it shoots for a third straight victory in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup.

The Troaang Texters (2-0) tangle with Phoenix Pulse (1-1) at 7 p.m. after the 4:30 p.m. clash between Columbian Dyip (1-1) and NorthPort (1-1).

Led by prolific import KJ McDaniels and his all-around game, TNT is off to a rousing start.

The Tropang Texters blew by Rain or Shine, 103-91, last Saturday to stay unscathed.

McDaniels was tremendous with team-highs of 37 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Still, TNT coach Bong Ravena said that the team is still looking to improve more at this stage.

“We still have a lot to improve on,” said Ravena. “We love our start and we’re hoping to sustain it as we get better.”

TNT will play a Phoenix side that is coming off a morale-boosting 103-101 win over Barangay Ginebra, also last Saturday.

With a win, the Tropang Texters can tie current league-leader NLEX (3-0) at the top.

Both splitting its first two assignments, the Dyip and the Batang Pier are both looking for win no. 2 when they go head to head.

Also, they are looking to bounce back after suffering losses in their previous encounters.

NorthPort bowed to defending champion Magnolia, 96-80, while Columbian was taken down by the Elasto Painters, 96-90, both last week.
