Last season, Barangay Ginebra went to war in the Philippine Basketball Association while dealing with pesky injuries left and right.
Key players such as Joe Devance, Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar, Jervy Cruz, Art Dela Cruz and Sol Mercado, among others, were in and out of the Gin Kings’ line-up through the past year due to various injuries.
In the 2019 season, Ginebra is looking to once again contend as it is finally back in full force after quite some time.
According to team skipper LA Tenorio, the team is completely healthy with players like Cruz, Dela Cruz and Devance back in the fray.
“’Yung long break gave us a lot of time to recover,” said Tenorio. “Players who had injuries are now back healthy. Good start for us.”
Ginebra is already in its preparations for the coming Philippine Cup with everyone back in action.
The Gin Kings will be bannering an intact line-up as all of their key players were retained.
“Still the same team, same personnel. We just have to refocus again,” added the heady guard.
Last season, the Gin Kings were able to take the Commissioner’s Cup title before falling short of winning a third straight Governors’ Cup crown.
