San Beda shoots to regain its bearing after a painful loss to Lyceum of the Philippines University as it squares off with Arellano University today in the 94th NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

The Lions lost steam in a heartbreaking 66-73 defeat to the Pirates Tuesday that sent the former to their first loss this after winning their first six outings and they will be eager to bounce back from it with a win over the Arellano U Chiefs in their 4 p.m. encounter.

“We just have to bounce back from it and try to get as many wins as possible,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

San Beda will play an AU team that is looking to play more consistent after splitting wins (three) with losses (four) that kept the latter stranded in the middle of the pack.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, meanwhile, seeks to keep its spot at third where they hold a 5-2 (win-loss) mark while College of St. Benilde tries to snatch it as the two take on each other at 2 p.m.

The Altas have been a revelation thus far as they have zoomed to their current place despite coming into the season with 11 new players and a coach in Frankie Lim.

Lim said the keys are defense and execution.

“We’re winning games because we’re playing really tough defense and making shots,” said Lim.

Letran, meanwhile, aims to ride the crest of their 84-63 rout of Mapua Tuesday as it tackles Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Bong Quinto has been the pillar of strength for the Knights after dishing out a triple-double effort with 12 points, 10 boards and 11 assists to power his team to their fifth win against three setbacks.
