Gelo Batayon drilled in 19 points for the University of Perpetual Help Junior Altas in their 84-82 triumph over the San Sebastian Staglets in the ongoing 24th Fr. Martin Cup summer tournament at the St. Placid gymnasium inside the San Beda-Mendiola campus in Manila.
Batayon’s drive and free throw in the last 14 seconds carried the Junior Altas to their fourth straight win in the junior division of this cagefest supported by Cocolife.
Dave Balo made 17 points for the Staglets, who are the defending champions.
The La Salle Greenhills Greenies, led by Joel Cagulangan, demolished the San Beda Red Cubs, 106-54.
In other games, the Enderun College Lady Titans won by default over Far Eastern University, allowing them to move ahead in the women’s division with three straight victories.
Ria Nabalan banged in 16 points for the National University Lady Bulldogs, who whipped University of Santo Tomas in another women’s encounter.
