CABINET members of President Rodrigo Duterte (Malacañang Kamao) and the Senate Team (Senate Sentinels) proved they have what it takes to be competitive in the second UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off  off-season games at the Pasig City Sports Center.

The Kamao and the Sentinels engaged in a nip-and-tuck battle in the first quarter, with the Malacañang Kamao leading by just a point at 21-20.

Malacañang increased its lead to seven points in the second quarter, 40-33, before the Sentinels snatched the lead, 58-55.

The tandem of Senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara eventually led the pack with a combined 33 points to lift the Senate team to a 78-74 victory over Malacanang.

The Kamao were led by Liutenant Commander Paul Yamamoto with 22 points and Assistant to the President Christopher Bong Go with 15 points.

Anti-Corruption Commissioner Greco Belgica also contributed 15 points, while PAGCOR Vice President Jimmy Bondoc chipped in 5 points.

Meanwhile, the PNP Responders exacted sweet revenge against defending champion and long-time rival AFP Cavaliers following a 90-62 win.

The Responders assaulted the Cavaliers with their intense offense that allowed them to dominate all quarters from start to finish.

It can be recalled that in the last off-season finals, AFP defeated PNP, 75-71, in overtime.

Philippine National Police Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde himself headed the PNP Responders.

“Magagaling ‘yung mga kalaban namin kaya sabi ko nga talagang pinag-praktisan namin ito. Nagkaroon kami ng competition among ourselves doon sa Camp Crame para mapili talaga ‘yung players namin,” he said.

On the other hand, AFP Cavaliers head coach, CPL. Cornelio “Sonny” Manucat III, said: “I have to give credit to the PNP, tingin ko mas prepared sila. Bawi nalang kami next time.”

The best players of the game were PSupt Peter Limbauan, who scored 17 points and had 6 rebounds and one assist, while PSupt Joel de Mesa had 23 points, 3 rebounds and one assist.
