ROYAL Manila cagebelles dominated arch rival Team Kengs, 2-0, to capture the championship of the Queens Basketball League [QBL]-Adela SDK Cup held recently at the Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City.
The Sports Apparel Specialists of team manager Conrado Gicanal downed Kengs in Game 1, 80-74, powered by the offensive prowess of Finals’ MVP Carmina Reyes.
They followed this up with a Game 2 come-from-behind 72-69 victory to sweep their best-of-three finals of the tournament presented by Adela SDK, organized by QBL and sanctioned by BBL of founder Erick Kirong.
“Our Royal cagebelles are determined to sweep the finals to avoid a pressure-laden rubbermatch and they did it,”said winning coach Rene Boy Banzali. who steered Royal Manila to its second major women caging title this year.
The same intact team won the King of the Courts [KOTC] women’s division last summer.
