Cubs, Kittens outplay rivals in Fr. Martin Cup

SEASON 92 NCAA junior finalist San Beda-Rizal Red Cubs and the San Beda-Manila Red Kittens outplayed their rivals Thursday in the ongoing 23rd Fr.  Martin Cup Summer Basketball tournament.

Evan Nelle struck with 16 points, while Liam Barbero and Pedro Alfaro added 12 and 11 points as Red Cubs prevailed over Emilio Aguinaldo College, 76-71, at their own home court at the St. Placid gymnasium inside the San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.

Jharles Uy banged in 20 points for the Red Kittens, who smothered the La Salle Greenhills Greenies, 75-62, in this cagefest supported by Armor On Sportswear.

The Red Cubs went on to pick up their first win in two games in Group A of the junior division.

The Red Kittens, who moved out of range off Uy’s two triples in the second period, also registered  their first triumph in Group B.

In other games, Manila Patriotic School tripped St. Patrick School, 71-56, in the junior action.

The Letran Knights waylaid the Batang Gilas under-16 national team, 97-72, in the senior division.

In women’s matches, National University turned back College of St. Benilde, 92-37, while Enderun College outplayed Far Eastern University, 75-74.
