More than 2,500 participants took part in the recent UST Fun Run, a historic event featuring 5K and 10K categories. The route began at the University of Santo Tomas— the country’s oldest university — and led runners through the storied streets of Manila to Intramuros and back.
For the first time ever, a running event was granted access to the Quezon Bridge, which links UST to Intramuros via Manila City Hall. The use of this iconic route highlighted the cultural and historical importance of the event.
Organized by the BBG Run Group, the fun run aimed to raise funds for various charitable outreach programs.
“This was the first time UST initiated such an event,” said Dr. George Co, a UST alumnus and one of the lead organizers. “The support was overwhelming—not only from fellow alumni but also from the general public.”
Dr. Co, a seasoned runner himself, expressed his gratitude: “Thanks to all the runners who answered the call, we’ve raised enough to support outreach programs for the less fortunate.”
